Friendships- a gift from the Lord (by Rahel)
Friendships- a gift from the Lord
As I was listening to the sermon, I began to reflect on how
God is so faithful by blessing me with beautiful friendships. Let me try to
share what I mean by using the points from the sermon.
These friends share an Intimacy with me:
There is a Closeness that
we share because our faith allows us to go just beyond the shallow and share
about the more personal and deep things because we know the other will be
praying for us.
These sisters walk their talk and as a result have Cared
for me and taught me to care as well.
Intercession:
I was extremely encouraged by one of my friends who messaged
me on Sunday right after the sermon and told me she prayed Philemon 4-7 over my
life. Knowing that I had a friend who continually
and earnestly interceded for me truly made me feel so special.
Interested:
These friends also show their care
and concern by regularly checking up on me.
One in fact, checks on me at least once a day though she does not have
to! What a blessing! This has made me to
check on my friends as well.
Instructs and inspire:
These friends also hold me accountable and are super
supportive. They are ones I can count on
to serve me and their selflessness truly inspires me.
Let me share an example of what I mean. In March, I had to suddenly come home from Pune because of a terrible wisdom tooth problem. Before I could go back to Pune, the lockdown happened. My family were afraid to send me back as Pune was having such high covid cases and it was decided that I would not be going back any time soon. However, all my things were still in my PG. I shared this dilemma with my close friend/ roommate and without hesitation she offered to pack all my things and send them by parcel! This meant hours of video calls to see what she should send and what could be left behind. Not only that, she had to go to the post office putting herself at risk! She also printed out my assignments and submitted them at the college in pouring rain so that I could meet the deadline. She showed true selfless service and is an inspiration for me.
I thank God that this series on POPG is already teaching me
so many things and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the study on Philemon!
