Philemon (Poem) by Mercy Samuel

 PHILEMON

Philemon was a wealthy slave owner

He loved his family, church and Savior

His faith in the Lord was well known

The church met together in his home.

He had a close partnership with Paul

Who wrote to him from a prison hall

Paul wanted Philemon to truly know

Onesimus was not his slave any more!

This love letter from Paul politely said,

“Welcome Onesimus” and treat him well.

He was now Paul’s dearly loved son

And God’s work in him had begun

Though Paul was bound outwardly

He was obviously set free inwardly

While Philemon was free on the outside

He wrestled with some issues deep inside

Paul’s advice to Philemon still matters today

God’s love breaks barriers that come our way

It does not matter where we start our race

As long as we finish well with God’s Grace

  1. Very well written and so simple to understand. God bless you. A reminder that the start does not matter as long as we finish well and bring glory to God.
