Reflective Bengali Poem

 প্রিয় ফিলীমন

(Dear Philemon) 

পৌল ঈশ্বরের সেবক, প্রভু যীশুর দাস

সুসমাচার প্রচারের জন্য এখন কারাগারে তাঁর বাস

(Paul, God's servant, is in Prison for the gospel.)

কারাগারে এত কষ্ট সত্ত্বেও চিঠি লেখা তাঁর থামেনি

প্রভুর প্রতি তাঁর ভালবাসা একটুও তো কমেনি

(Despite all the hardships in prison, he did not stop writing the letters. 

Even his love for the Lord has not diminished.)

এত নির্যাতনের পরেও সে ভোলেনি খ্রীষ্টৈ ভাই-বোন

ফিলিপীয় মন্ডলীর পরে, এবার তাঁর চিঠি পেল ফিলীমন

(Even after so much persecution, he did not forget his Christian brothers and sisters. 

After the Philippians Church, now Philemon received his letter.)

ঈশ্বরকে ধন্যবাদ দেয় সে, আর করে সে প্রার্থনা

ফিলীমনের কাছে অনুরোধ তাঁর, ওনীসিমাসকে গ্রহণ করতে ভুলো না

(He gives thanks to God, and he prays. 

He requests Philemon not to forget to accept Onesimus.)

পেয়েছি তাকে পুত্ররূপে, ছিলনা তো সে উপযোগী

এখন ওনীসিমাস আমার প্রাণের মত, এক বিশ্বাসে সহভাগী

(Onesimus became my son, he was not useful earlier. 

Now Onesimus is like my heart and we share the same faith.)

ফিরিয়ে নিয় না তাঁকে দাস হিসেবে, নিয় ভাইয়ের মত

শোধ করব তাঁর সব ঋণ, সে ক্ষতি করেছে যত

(Don't accept him back as a slave, but accept him like a dear brother. 

All that he owes you, I'll pay for that.)

এই বিশ্বাসে চিঠি লিখছি যে তুমি অনুরোধ মানবে

তুমি প্রার্থনার উত্তর পাও, এই ইচ্ছা ঈশ্বর জানবে

(I am writing this letter in the belief that you will comply with my request. 

You get the answers to your prayers, this desire of mine God will know.)

সবাই শুভেচ্ছা জানাচ্ছে তাঁদের, প্রভু করুক আর্শিবাদ অশেষ

এই বলে পৌল স্নেহের সাথে করছে তাঁর চিঠি লেখা শেষ।

(Everyone is greeting them, may the Lord bless them endlessly.

This is how Paul ends his letter with affection.)
